FRAMING LABOR CRISIS

• I could remember a time when I had guys stopping by my jobs daily looking for work. Its been years since I had someone come by a job looking.

• There are very few young framers learning the trade. Young people have more choices today and are looking for better paying and easier work.

• Cabinet shops and the like are able to hire more and younger labor. They are inside, same location, no rain outs. They are willing to work for less money for those benefits.

• Specialization. Specialization. Specialization. By precutting, we are able to find more labor to work inside and cut. While letting the guys that are willing to work in the field get more done. And make more money encouraging new and young guys to enter the framing business. And older framers can extend there career by moving inside
